TLDR: 2020 has been a rough year for many of us. I am over it, but I am trying to stay positive as much as I can. In doing so, I began to reflect on what I could learn from this year and there are a few things.

  • Be grateful
  • Do what you love
  • Know what you stand for
  • Save Save Save

For more details, read below.

To be honest I don’t even know where to start. This year has been a roller coaster to say the least, not only with the pandemic, but also :

  • The passing of Kobe & Gianna Bryant, Chadwick Boseman, Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg
  • Wild fires in the west coast
  • Hurricane Hanna in the southern part of the U.S. mainly Texas
  • The upsetting decision on the Breonna Taylor case

And the list continues.

I honestly believed this year was going to be a great year for all of us, but it’s been rough. It feels like every day there’s something new, wish the bad news could give us a break.

Although it’s been a tough year, in the worse time there are things to gain from it.

What I Learned:

  • Be grateful.
    • As simple as it may seem when life gets busy it can distract us from appreciating not only what we have going on in our lives, but also acknowledging those in our lives.
  • Time doesn’t stop for anyone, in that time do what you love. Life can be scary and unexpected, but it’s okay to take risks.
    • Just imagine, if you did what you love, how would your life be different? If you are currently smiling just thinking about that dream, make the necessary changes to make it happen in real life. That transition may take time, but the work you put towards the transition is worth it.
    • Also, is playing it (life) safe be what’s holding you back from getting to where you want to be?
  • Know what you stand for.
    • There are so many perspectives to so many issues, do your research, stay informed.
  • Save Save Save
    • Life can throw anything at you at any time and not having savings (i.e. Emergency savings) makes it stressful. Sadly, this country is all about spending to keep the economy going, but prioritize saving it can really save you in desperate times.
